Job Description: Reports To: Service Manager / Owner

NOTE: In the first interview, you will be tested on your bike knowledge. Interview 2 is building a bike. Please be honest when applying to save us both time.

Position Summary

The Junior Bike Technician assists with the assembly, repair and maintenance of bicycles and e-bikes, and supports the overall efficiency of the service department. This is a hands-on, entry-level role for someone who enjoys working with tools, learning mechanical skills, and helping customers ride safely and confidently.

Key Responsibilities

Bike Assembly & Basic Repairs

Assemble new bicycles and e-bikes following store and manufacturer guidelines.
Perform basic maintenance, repairs and adjustments (bike wash, tubes/tires, brakes, gears, cables, minor wheel truing, accessories).
Install common parts and accessories (pedals, saddles, racks, fenders, lights, bottle cages, etc.).
Assist technicians on more complex jobs as needed.
Rental & Shop Support

Complete quick checks and minor fixes on rental fleet bikes and e-bikes.
Help with seasonal tune-ups and safety checks for rental and demo equipment.
Support the sales floor by handling small on-the-spot adjustments for customers.
Quality & Safety

Follow all workshop safety procedures and use tools correctly.
Ensure every bike leaving the service area is safe, properly torqued and test-ridden where appropriate.
Flag any safety concerns or unusual issues to the Head Tech / Manager immediately.
Organization & Housekeeping

Keep the work area clean, organized and free of hazards.
Put away tools, parts and supplies at the end of each shift.
Help receive, label and stock parts orders; report low stock to the service lead.
Customer Interaction

Greet customers in the service area and provide friendly, basic explanations of work being done.
Ask clear questions to understand the customer’s concerns and pass accurate information to senior techs.
Maintain a professional, approachable manner even during busy periods.
Qualifications

Genuine interest in bicycles and cycling; some home or shop wrenching experience is an asset.
Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow checklists and procedures.
Good communication skills and team-focused attitude.
Willingness to learn continuously through coaching, training and practice.
Physical & Availability Requirements

Able to stand for extended periods and lift/move bikes (up to ~50 lbs / 23 kg).
Comfortable working in a busy shop environment with changing priorities.
Available for weekends and peak-season hours as scheduled.
