From aggressive trail bikes to daily commuters and e-mobility, our service department handles it all with precision.
We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Bicycle Technician to join our crew heading into the 2027 season and beyond.
The Role
As a core technician in our shop, you will handle advanced diagnostics, precision maintenance, and custom builds. You will take ownership of technical mountain bike servicing—specifically complex suspension platforms—and spearhead diagnostics and electrical repairs on modern e-bike drives.
Key Responsibilities
• Suspension & Linkages: Perform 50-hour and 200-hour services, seal replacements, damper rebuilds/bleeds, and suspension setup (Fox, RockShox, etc.). Diagnose bearing wear and complete pivot/linkage overhauls on full-suspension frames.
• E-Bike Systems: Conduct diagnostic scans, firmware updates, wiring troubleshooting, motor replacements, and battery testing on common drive systems (Bosch, Shimano STEPS, Brose, TQ, etc.).
• Hydraulics & Drivetrain: Bleed and troubleshoot high-end hydraulic brake systems (SRAM, Shimano, Magura, TRP); set up and tune electronic wireless and mechanical drivetrains.
• Wheel Building & Truing: Build, tension, dish, and true custom wheelsets; handle tubeless setups and tire inserts.
• Workflow & Communication: Manage work orders, document service records clearly, communicate technical issues directly with service writers or customers, and maintain a clean, organized workstation and shop environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Proven Experience: Minimum 3+ years of professional shop technician experience with a strong portfolio of high-end mechanical work.
• Suspension Mastery: Confident and experienced with modern damper technologies, air spring overhauls, and rear shock/fork servicing.
• E-Bike Familiarity: Practical troubleshooting experience with major OEM e-bike platforms (Bosch, Shimano, or certified brand equivalents). Manufacturer certifications are a significant plus.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, diagnostic logic, and willingness to stay current on evolving bicycle industry standards.
• Team Player: Positive attitude, high reliability, and clear communication with both teammates and customers.
What We Offer
• Competitive compensation reflecting your experience, certifications, and technical ability.
• Permanent, year-round full-time stability.
• Access to pro deals and employee purchase discounts across major brands.
• A comprehensive health benefits program including dental, vision care, physio, etc.
• A supportive, rider-focused shop culture right next to Nanaimo's premier trail networks.
